As one migraine sufferer writes, “I get tension at the base of my skull. I know my head will be pounding soon. I’ll end up in bed, unable to take the dimmest light or the faintest whisper. The medicine might lessen them if I take it in time. If not, nothing helps.”
For the 28 million Americans who suffer with migraines, these are familiar thoughts. Some feel nausea, severe pounding, dizziness and the “aura.”
What besides pills are your options?
There is a scientifically based treatment that has greatly reduced and completely eliminated migraine episodes for thousands of sufferers. And the key comes from your neck.
Most migraines actually begin in the neck. They are caused by spinal “kinks” that cause pressure on the nerves that control the brain’s blood vessels. When these nerves become inflamed, these blood vessels constrict, reducing blood flow and resulting in migraines. Do you know what the pounding in your head actually is? It’s the beating of your heart. The blood vessel constriction is so severe that you can actually feel you pulse pounding away in your head.
Fortunately, many sufferers have found solace with the Pettibon System, a comprehensive rehabilitation program for the spine’s hard and soft tissues. It uses x-rays for diagnosis, assessing progress and proof of treatment effectiveness. The results are nothing short of miraculous and while not everyone is a candidate, the results are extremely predictable and reliable, with an examination determining who will benefit.
If you suffer with migraines, do yourself a favor and get checked by a Pettibon practitioner like myself. It very well may give you your life back.

Mandeville Chiropractor Loses Weight Fast and Keeps It Off, and You Can Too
St Tammany Chiropractic Specialist to share how he lost 115lbs in only 200 days and continues to maintain 5 years later, and help the Covington Food Bank in the Process
______________________________________________________________
Dr. Paul Worsham, chiropractor and clinic director of the Advanced Wellness Center, a Mandeville, La chiropractic clinic, weighed over 280lbs back in November 2003 when his daughter was born. “My father passed at the age of 56, when I was only 15 years old. That was the only thing that went through my mind the first time I looked into Sophia’s big blue eyes,” Dr. Worsham says. “I knew if I did not change my lifestyle, she was destined to go through all the heartache I did losing my father so young. I was determined that not happen to her. So I knew I needed to get healthy and the start was getting the excess fat off my body.”
And lose the fat he did. After a few months of research to make sure he chose the most healthy and scientifically valid regimen, Dr. Worsham dropped 23lbs in the first three weeks in route to a total loss of 115lbs and an incredible 15 inches off his waist, all in only 200 days. “The weight just seemed to pour off my body. I lost almost 30lbs in the first month alone, and then settled into a steady loss of between 10-13lbs each month until I reached my goal weight.”
What is the most common question Dr. Worsham gets about his weight loss? “Many ask if I had surgery to lose the weight. The answer to that is absolutely not. I researched the surgeries but found the long-term results to be no better and in some cases less effective than other ways to lose weight. And surgery is not healthy - health was my main goal.”
Since losing the weight, Dr. Worsham has educated hundreds of northshore residents on the secrets he discovered in his research. But for those scheduling in August and September, he is offering something extremely special. “I’ll be offering a one on one weight loss consultation. Normally I charge $100.00 for the consultation but I am offering this at no charge in exchange for a non-perishable food donation to the Covington Food Bank. The Food Bank does such a wonderful job providing food for needy families in the area year round. So this is truly a win-win for the community as well as one of my favorite organizations.”
Please call Advanced Wellness Center in Mandeville, LA at 985-867-8100 for full details, or visit Dr. Worsham’s website Mandeville Chiropractor.

Chiropractic Instead of Drugs for ADHD
A recent study links stimulant use to sudden death; media and current research suggest chiropractic as a safe alternative.
Certain stimulant medications used to control attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may cause sudden, unexplained death - this according to a study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry. This adds to previous reports emphasizing the potential dangers of such medications.
The study, funded by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) along with the National Institute of Mental Health, evaluated stimulant use in 564 children and teens age 7-19 who died unexpectedly, and had no known history of life threatening illness or defined cause of death, such as accident or homicide against a control of 564 age-matched who died in motor vehicle accidents (the control group.)
Comparing the two groups, researchers foundthat a significantly higher number of children/teens in the study group had taken methylphenidate prior to their death than the control. Methylphenidate is the generic form of ADHD drugs like Ritalin and Concerta.
On the good news side, according to a CBS Early Show segment and recent research from the International Pediatric Chiropractic Association (ICPA) suggests benefit of chiropractic care for ADHD sufferers. The study, "The Chiropractic Care of Patients With Attention Deficit Disorder: A Retrospective Analysis" has been aceepted for publication by a major biomechanical journal shows promising results for children under chiropractic care.
In the CBS Early Show segment on the June 15th "Healthwatch", medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton told CBS anchor Julie Chen, "There have been studies that show complimentary or alternative therapies [such as] chiropractic care and dietary changes can be beneficial is some children who are on ADHD medication. She also noted side effects accompanying ADHD drugs including elevated heart rate and blood pressure.
I have been treating children suffering with ADHD in my office for several years now, and have found many children, and adults, have had the ability to discontinue use of Ritalin, Concerta and Adderall (with medical supervision) after starting care in our office. If you know someone suffering with ADHD, please have them call the office 985-867-8100 or go to the website at Mandeville Chiropractor for a free consultation to discuss their health and possible options.

Trouble Losing Weight?
It has been over 5 years now since deciding it was time to lose weight and keep it off. My motivation was the birth of my daughter. At the time I weighed over 280lbs and I knew that if things did not change, she would lose her father at a very young age. I lost my dad when I was 15 and he was only 56 - I did not want Sophia to have to go through all I did.
There are literally hundreds of differing diet approaches out there, and they all have the same 5% success rate. I knew that once I lost the weight I wanted (115lbs in less than 7 months, by the way) I had to figure out how to keep it off. I was fortunate enough to come upon a strategy early on in my weight loss journey, a reason for the rebound so many suffer from, other than going back to eating poorly again.
We are surrounded by over 82,000 chemicals and toxins each and every day. They are in our food (over 18,000), in our water and in the air we breathe. They are such things as that "new car smell", the smell of paint, the chemicals in carpeting to prevent staining... the list is truly endless. As a matter of fact, there are over 1700 new chemical compounds that industry introduces into our environment each and every year - chemicals that we have never been surrounded by before. According to the 1976 Toxic Substances Abuse Act, the EPA requires testing of new chemicals for toxic effects in humans ONLY if there is a reasonable expectation beforehand that a toxic effect might exist. Because of this, of the 82,000 chemicals that surround us, less than 25% have ever been tested for toxic effects in humans.
Now what does this have to do with weight? As these chemicals continually enter our bodies, they eventually overwhelm the liver, preventing it from doing its jobs properly. The liver is the primary detoxifier of the body and when it gets overwhelmed, these toxins are no longer removed at an acceptable rate. The body, in an effort to minimize the damage caused by these toxins surrounds the toxins in fat. When we lose weight, if we have not purified our liver, these toxins stay in our body and our body "rebounds" by surrounding them in fat again and putting them back in the fat cells.
Purification and detoxification programs, specifically designed to detox the liver, have shown phenomenal results for people, including myself, to not only lose weight but also to keep that weight off long-term. It has been over 5 years for me and I still maintain my loss. And I am not the only one. There are hundreds of success stories out there, including many I have counseled myself.
If your weight is stuck, a healthy liver detox may just be your answer.
